Bolgár, László (1911-1990)
Journalist and translator. After obtaining a law degree, he embarked in 1935 on a diplomatic career that took him to Belgrade, Zagreb and Sofia as press attaché. In 1945-7, he was a radio correspondent. He moved to France in 1948, where he directed the Hungarian broadcasts of French Radio in Paris until 1958. He was then deputy head of the East European Department there until 1969 and head until 1975. He also contributed to émigré literary periodicals (Irodalmi Újság, Ahogy lehet, Látóhatár) and joined the staff of the periodical Valóság, which appeared in Paris in 1953. He translated Hungarian works of literature into French.
