Ebinger, Endre (1932)
Born in Gamás, Somogy County, the son of a farm steward, Ebinger enrolled at Szeged University in 1950, where he obtained a teacher's degree in physics and mathematics. He began teaching at Mosonmagyaróvár Grammer School. On October 27, 1956, he was chosen to represent the teachers on the town Revolutionary National Council, and on the 28th, brought news to a mass meeting in Győr of shots being fired into a crowd at Mosonmagyaróvár two days before. He was arrested on March 5, 1957, interned at Kistarcsa, and later prosecuted. He was sentenced to six years' imprisonment on February 5, 1958, but freed from Vác Prison on April 1, 1960. Thereafter, he worked as a manual labourer and then a skilled worker at Budapest Chemical Works. He became a physicist at Anode Factory in 1963. He was a researcher at the Electrical Industry Research Institute from 1970 until his retirement in 1992.
